  • Presentation Workshop

Workshop

The workshop contains two parts, one in the morning and another in the afternoon after lunch break. The instructor for this workshop is

In the beginning, the instructor provided us some ice-breaking activities in order to create a better atmosphere for learning as well as make us feel comfortable and at ease. Then, she continually talked about presentation techniques which we can adapt and apply later in our online CV presentation in the afternoon. The techniques include Story-telling, Grooming, Body Movement, Facial Expression, Vocal and Tone of Voice, Personal Brand and the Presentation Preparation. The instructor also shared her experiences, the problem she has been faced during various presentations she has made and how she got through and solved it. And she let us watched some videos to increase our understanding in presentation skills. Before the lunch break, the instructor also gave us some time to ask her any questions we were curious about.

Later in the afternoon, we were assigned to present our own blog (Online CV) to the class. At this moment, I adapted all of the techniques I have been taught in the beginning as well as solved some unexpected situations by my own. The instructor also gave us some comments individually about our pros and cons and what we need to improve to make a better presentation.

From this workshop I have learnt a lot about presenting. I realised that not only the movement and facial expression that should be concerned, but grooming is also important in presentation. It represents our personal brand and affects on the audience’s perception. Moreover, the story-telling is very significant. The way we arrange the story and simplify the information helps the audience to understand more about the presentation as well.

This trip has really changed my perspective about the stock market and economics. The knowledge I have got are applicable. I have learnt so much and felt more close and understand more about these things. Thanks to the SET who did a very good job on designing and simplifying the economic information into an easiest way to understand and enjoy. After going on this trip, I have an idea about buying some stocks and investing in the future.

  • SET Field Trip

This field trip we were going to SET building, The Stock Exchange of Thailand on Ratchadaphisek road. In the beginning, we were introduced into a meeting room with a stock market short brief. The speaker provided some basic economic information in order to make us understand more about the market, for instance, What is it? How it works? The operating procedures in buying the stock as well as how it can literally affect on our lives. At first, I thought these economic things and the stock market are very distant. But after listening to this brief, it changed my mind. If we study and learn enough about it, even a student as me or my colleagues can be a part of this and make an actual money from it. Economics is in our daily lives and every activity we do with money is included in it. And it feels more close to home for me.

Later, we were brought to the Investory or a discovery museum of investment where they combine the technology and games together with investment and the stock market in order to simplify the information and make it easier to understand at the same time as enjoying it. There are various sections in this museum as a different aspect of investment learning. My favourite section is Big Battle, a virtual stock market investing game where we were provided an initial budget and needed to make a decision about the stock by our own. This game is quite creative. It was not just only spending the money on the stocks and receiving the profits. We needed to analyse and think based on provided information such as news (social, economics, politics and other kinds of aspect) and its profile in a limited period of time which makes it more challenging. And it was also fun competing with your colleagues and seeing your profits on the scoreboard.

  • Thai Film Museum Field Trip

Film

Thai Film Archive or Thai Film Museum is one of the government organisations where they keep films and videos as well as whatever related with them as an intellectual property. They also collect many useful equipment and information about Thai film industry from the past until now.

In this museum, the exhibition is set as an outdoor model town called “Maya Town” including various historical landmarks in both Thai and world film history, for instance, Cinema Train Station, Maya Panich, Sam Yot City Gate, Mongkol Company and Kinetoscope.

Mongkol Company is a red wooden building located in the front part of Maya Town. It is set as Maya Panich where visitors can ask for information, register to visit the place and buy some souvenirs. The black metal film-shooting model equipment placed in the middle of the town is sculptured by one of the national artists dedicated to Cherd Songsri, a famous Thai film director. If you look through the hole of this metal model, you will see an upside-down picture the Thai Film museum using the same principle as a vintage pinhole camera. The Sam Yot City Gate refers to the first and oldest movie theatre in Thailand. Opposite to this place is European buildings background with a man and a kid from the classic movie, The Kid starring Charlie Chaplin and Jackie Coogan in 1921.

Here, in Thai Film Archive, they do not only provide visitors the information about Thai film industry and history, they are also the place where the film is being conserved and digitalised as well as being kept in the cold storage. Because they know film is not just an entertainment, it contains plenty of cultural and historical information and memory. It is an intellectual property that should be conserved for younger generations in the future.

On my first day, the HR director, P.Keh, gave me and other interns a walk and a short brief in the company including various sections, Cafe, toilets, meeting rooms and basic information of the CEO and founders. The office is decorated with vivid colours (mostly yellow), some relaxing furniture such as coach and a co-working space in the cafe in order to increase the employee’s productivity and relieves their stress. One of my favourite elements in this office is “Blackslash”. It is a cultural editorial to help weave cultural and trends insight to the employees with their creative outputs. It is like a weekly news and trends that being presented around the company’s media by the Blackslash TBWA reporters all over the world.

Then I moved on to the new unreleased project. This one helps me expand my understanding more about the process of working, when I worked and learned with my team from step to step since the beginning of the project. Started from scratch, after the client gave us a work, the meeting which mainly includes AE (Account Executive), Planner and Creative (some covers other sections depending on how big the project is) will be set up. AE takes a part on contacting and dealing with the client while planner plans all the marketing strategies and the segmentation of the project / brand. When the marketing plan is already set, the project will be sent over to the creative, where we need to think and brainstorm about the idea and make it visual while still stick with the plan.

This is quite a challenging work. At first, I thought a creative work is thinking outside of the box and beyond the frame, however, it is actually how to still being creative and new in a limited set-up space and conditions. For this project, I was assigned to design a logo and a donation campaign that mainly focuses on the target group of foreigners. I also had a chance to be in a meeting room and brainstorming with my team a couple times as well as sharing my ideas and receiving feedback in order to improve my work to be better and meet the client’s needs.

I also learned that there are various kinds of advertisement, for instance, brand, trade, corporate, ideas and etc. Each team is divided and separated into a particular section to receiving different types of job, and in the section and team I was placed takes a part of corporate advertising which has to think a lot more than just selling the products but it focuses more on the image and perception of the organisation or brand. It is much deeper and bigger in terms of both marketing and advertising. And I have learnt and widen my perspective more than I have ever imagined I would.

Moreover, I also had a chance to go in a production set of Tipco and Maggi advertisements which are completely different in both the message the brand wanted to send as well as the story-telling style. For Tipco, the clients want to represent their brand as “belief” just like how they belief in the good quality of fruit juice. Therefore, the advertisement was focused more on the storyline, how the character copes with situations and beliefs in what she really is. The outputs will be released as a web film (whole story), TV screen in 30s, 15s and the bumper (6s). While Maggi advertisement is mainly to sell the product, the clients want to release their new product and represent how easy, convenient and delicious the food would be by using it. So this one focuses on the element of the ingredients, the composition, transition and the arrangement more than the storyline, but still contains a profound message to the target group behind.

Additionally, I learned a lot about the process of working in a famous and huge organisation. How they plan and work from project to project systematically and think profoundly and creatively to create a better output into this industry. Thank you to all of my team, P.Faye, P.Pukboong, P.Yui and P.Ting for teaching me every little things and details about works with no anger, and my boss, P.Boy and P.Golf who always motivated and gave me a lot of feedback and comments to help me improve myself to be better. I have learnt so much not only about work but also any other kinds of life aspect as well. It was a wonderful experience and I will surely apply these in the future.

Since I did not have a direct studying in an advertising route, therefore, in the first week I still needed to adjust myself to the company’s working process, especially in the creative part which is quite different to what I had experienced in doing my university projects. My first job was to help my team arranging the storyboard of the upcoming AIS music video in the presentation. This work required no capability in design or creative thinking, but it was very useful to me in learning the process of how my team works. I saw their presentation and the steps that have been developed since the beginning from the client’s short brief to visual music video art works and lyrics. They also applied a lot of triggers and always be active to trends and things that keep changing all the time.
